The assassinated NRM MP Ibrahim Abiriga, 62, has been buried at his ancestral home in northern Uganda.
The legislator and his brother Saidi Congo were killing by gunmen riding boda boda (motorcycle) on Friday evening.
The bodies of the two were flown home on Sunday and they were received by hundreds of mourners.
Abiriga was President Museveni's staunch ally and used to wear his party colors to represent his loyalty.
Hundreds of mourners, including the president and several political heads, attended his burial at Rhino camp in Lukudu Village in Arua.
Museveni described the assassination as "senseless killing" and that the people who did it are "pigs and cowards".
During the funeral, he said "It is possible that some people hated him because he was NRM and uncompromising".
He also reiterated that "nobody will start a war in the regime of NRM and win".
