12 contestants are running for this year’s crown which is currently held by Yvonne Kushe.

This year’s pageant will celebrate women empowerment movements that have sparked light on the important issues affecting women and girls like inequality, domestic violence, lack of access to education, rape culture and sexual harassment.

The beauty pageant will be graced by Ugandan musicians Sheebah Karungi, Irene Ntale, Jose Chameleone and Fik Fameika.

Ugandan-owned fashion houses like Afrisent Collections, Ipigogo House of Fashion, NFKA Clothing, Inzozi Fashion House are expected to showcase.

Miss Uganda North America supports young Ugandan women living or studying in North America to achieve their educational and leadership goals by promoting awareness of global issues and their cultural heritage, according to their website.
