Death toll might increase

At least 4 UPDF soldiers serving under AMISOM have been killed following after al-Shabab militant group attacked an African Union (AU) base in Somalia.

The militants launched coordinated attacks on five military camps in Somalia's Lower Shabelle region.
They detonated two suicide car bombs that hit one AU vehicle and one Somali military vehicle before large number of al Shabaab fighters began firing from under the trees.
Al-Shabab claims that 59 UPDF soldiers and 14 al-Shabaab militants were killed in the attacks.

UPDF spokesperson Richard Karemire says the death toll of al-Shabaab militants has risen to 30.
"Death toll rises to 30 Al-shabaab terrorists killed during their attempted attack on UPDFÂ bases in Somalia. The struggle continues," he said.
