Aircraft crashes in Nyeri

A light aircraft on Monday crash-landed shortly after taking off from the Nyaribo Airstrip in Mweiga area, Nyeri County.

There were no casualties in the morning incident which happened near the airstrip's runway.

The airtsrip has relatively low traffic although it has in the past year been increasingly busy after the launch of commercial flights between Nyeri and Nairobi.

The incident adds on to growing safety concerns in the aviation industry.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) recently grounded a fleet of planes belonging to Silverstone Airlines after multiple mishaps over the past three months.
