5 Ugandan movies, The Forbidden, Devil's Chest, The Torture, Rain and Bella, have been nominated in the same category of Best East African movie.

The 5 movies have been nominated in different categories of the prestigious awards; apart from Devil's Chest, the other four movies will compete for Best East African movie.

One Ugandan actor, Raymond Rushabiro, and 2 Ugandan actresses, Cinderella Sanyu and Agaba Joan, made it to the list.

The nominees are spread out in 27 categories and winner of each category will be announced sometime in August.

They were announced by popular Ghanaian actress and TV presenter, Joselyn Dumas, and Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi.

The Forbidden is a long film feature directed by Samuel Saviour Kizito. It is about the life of a gifted girl whose life takes a twist in the quest of her lost father.

While Bella, which features singer Cindy Sanyu in her debut acting role which pivots around a disadvantaged girl called "Bella" whose singing talent is easily deniable because of the way she looks.

Voting for the AMVCAs are open and will close on Sunday, 24 August 2018.
