Search for the missing bodies is underway

At least 5 people, including 2 babies, have drowned in Lake Bunyonyi in south-western Uganda, area police have confirmed.

Authorities say the 5 people were sailing to another village to cultivate when their canoe capsized on Tuesday morning in of the deepest lakes in Africa.
Area police spokesperson said the canoe was reportedly hit by waves due to the strong winds during a heavy morning downpour.
All the deceased were identified as residents of Hamukaka landing site in Kyenyi Parish Muko Sub County, Rubanda District.

A body of an 8-months-old baby was recovered as the search of other missing bodies continues.
An additional team of marine police officers has been dispatched to help in the search mission.
