24 confirmed dead, scores injured after being burried alive in tragic landslide

At least more 24 people have have been confirmed dead after buried alive in tragic landslide in West Pokot.

Among the dead in the landslide that is reported to have affected Nyarkulian and Parua villages are 7 children

Commissioner Apollo Okello confirmed the tragedy adding that there are more causalities whose fate is still unknown.

”Many people have been injured while animals and houses have also been buried by the massive landslide,” stated Sondany area chief Joel Bulal.

Residents stated that the heavy reains that have been pounding the area in recent days is to blame for the tragedy.

Rescue efforts are currently underway with the exact number of casualties yet to be confirmed.
