The beauty pageant which saw 22 girls compete for the crown, concluded on Friday as a 22-year-old student, Abenkayo Quiin, was crowned the winner.

Abenakyo, a student of Business Computing at Makerere Business School, claimed the crown from Leah Kagasa -- who has held it for two years, including one gap year where the pageant didn't make happen.

She comes from Mayunge, a district in the Eastern Busoga region of Uganda.

The 22-year-old beat fellow contestants in the pageant which had earlier been marred with controversy over bullying allegations -- something the foundation described as a "new concept" to Ugandans.
