Police in Ugandas capital, Kampala, have arrested two women for selling aviation fuel to street kids.

Jackie Matovu and Aisha Nakiwala were selling the fuel for sniffing in Kisenyi, a Kampala surburb.

Police authorities say sniffing benzene helps these street kids to get "high" and "engage in committing crimes like snatching property during traffic hours".

Ingestion of benzene causes acute poisoning and devastating effects, including seizures and coma.

Authorities have intensified the crack down against drug cartels in the Kampala Metropolitan Area following directives from Deputy Inspector General of Police Sabiiti Muzeeyi.

Kampala's prominent and most wanted marijuana drug lord, Kyataka Mukiibi, was arrested in April with huge amounts of marijuana.
