It was a cold day for the Uganda rugby fraternity. However, many fans and friends have hope and belief that the late had fulfilled his wishes of uplifting the rugby in Uganda, as trophies and accolades were received under his leadership.
Uganda Rugby’s Robert ‘Soggy’ Seguya laid to rest
On Friday, former rugby player and Rugby Cranes Coach, ‘Soggy’ was laid to rest. Before the late was taken to his ancestral grounds for burial, there was a requiem mass held at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Thursday, dominated by grief and gloom from fans, friends and family.
“I know he died a happy man. We shall miss him, but we continue to celebrate his legacy,” Alex Mubiru, a former teammate and close friend expressed.
At the requiem mass, former Uganda Rugby Union Chairman Andrew Owinyi said, “Soggy was one man larger than life, that only God could stop him. I will miss him, but will always celebrate his life.”
Soggy’s mother described him as a son that will never be replaced - a character like no other - one who had no issues or fights with anyone, from his work places to his community . The late’s mother thanked the rugby fraternity for the endless support they showed Soggy and prayed for eternal peace for her son.
The Uganda Rugby Cranes national team captain and head coach, Robert Soggy passed away on the night of December 14th, 2021.
