The Ugandan creative midfielder Kato Shaun Senkubuge who cost English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs a whopping £60,000 has joined the African Cup of Nations U20 camp at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Senkubuge, hailed as a great prospect for the future cost the North London club £60,000 while he was just 14-year-of-age making him arguably the most expensive teenager in Ugandan football history.

The transfer fee sealed his move from Cambridge to Tottenham as several other clubs were interested in his signature as part of their youth development programs. Some of the clubs included Arsenal, Norwich and Chelsea.

Born in the United Kingdom, the Tottenham Hotspurs academy talent is son of former Kampala City Council Football Club (KCC FC, now KCCA FC) defender Moses Senkubuge.

He touched down earlier this week in company of his father ahead of preparations for U20 Afcon.

He is a part of the 50 players summoned for the U20 Afcon camp ahead of the tournament slated for next month.

Uganda Cranes legend and coach of the team Jackson Mayanja noted that selection of players for the continental competition will be based on merit.

"We are going to use this time to fully assess and examine the players and all decisions we shall make will be based on merit, meaning players must work hard to prove the technical team," he noted.

According to 50-man list, Mayanja summoned seven players plying their trade abroad to fight for a place in the national junior men’s team.
