Uganda's CDA signs condolences for Iranian leaders after helicopter crash

On Sunday, May 26, Uganda's Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim, Oscar Edule, alongside other heads of missions and international organizations in Tehran, signed a book of condolences for the late Ebrahim Raisi, the president of Iran, Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and members of their delegation.

Oscar Edule acknowledged their significant contributions to strengthening the bilateral relations between Iran and Uganda, both politically and economically.

The tragic helicopter crash that claimed their lives occurred on Sunday, May 19 in East Azerbaijan Province of Iran.

On behalf of the government and people of Uganda, Oscar Edule expressed its deepest sympathies to the government and people of Iran, mourning the loss of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian.

Oscar Edule acknowledged their significant contributions to strengthening the bilateral relations between Iran and Uganda, both politically and economically.

The condolence ceremony took place in the Mirror Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ceremony was part of a series of memorial events for the deceased leaders and their delegations.

A memorial service was held on Friday, May 24, exclusively in honor of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, culminating in a commemoration prayer on Saturday, May 25, for Ayatollah Raisi, Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions.

These prayers were conducted in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei.

This event also signified the conclusion of the official mourning period for President Raisi, Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their companions.
