The news was trumpeted on Monday morning by Deputy House Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

With great Joy, I congratulate my brother @MosesMagogo and my sister the Rt. Hon Speaker @AnitahAmong upon the double bundle of joy,” announced Hon. Tayebwa.

“You are now Ssalongo and Nnalongo. Congratulations once again.”

Hon Among will be turning 50 next month.

The news that the Speaker was pregnant first came out in late August, when she personally informed Pope Francis during her visit to the Vatican.

In a video that was taken by her team that later leaked online, the speaker could be heard beseeching His Holiness; “I am also pregnant, I want you to bless my baby.”

Pope Francis then proceeded to bless her with a sign of the cross on her visibly bulging belly.

Last weekend during the wedding of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Hon Jacqueline Amongin and city lawyer Achilles Lubega, Deputy Speaker Tayebwa told guests that his boss Among was looking forward to coming out of her maternity leave.

Born in November 1973 in modern-day Bukedea District, they Speaker Among quickly short threw political ranks over the past decade, rising from a little-known opposition FDC mobilizer to House Speaker.

Among recently introduced her new husband and fellow MP Moses Hassim Magogo to her parents in a traditional marriage ceremony.

She has one known child with Patrick Baguma Atenyi, an FDC official.
