Asio Gloria Omaswa takes over Museveni's Principal Private Secretary

Former Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to President Yoweri Museveni and now Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Kenneth Omona Olusegun, handed over office to the new PPS, Asio Gloria Omaswa.

The occasion was presided over by Lucy Nakyobe, the head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, at State House Entebbe on Tuesday, March 27.

President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday, March 21 appointed Gloria Asio Omaswa as his new Principal Private Secretary (PPS).

The role of the PPS includes, among others overseeing the president's program. According to the presidency, the PPS heads the Private Office and Household of the President, implying Omaswa is now the overall coordinator, supervisor, and manager of the related staff and functional units.

Gloria Asio Omaswa replaced Dr. Keneth Omona who is now the Minister of State for Northern Uganda in the prime minister's office.

Dr. Omona's deputy, Irene Birungi, was also transferred to public service for redeployment.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Gloria Asio Omaswa is the chief executive officer of Kedajo, an agency that provides strategic management and communication services.

Omaswa, who has been in the communications industry for over 20 years, obtained an Honorary Bachelor of Law from Makerere University in 2002 after which she joined the Law Development Center for a diploma in legal practice.

In 2010, she obtained a master's in communication from Virginia Commonwealth University. Gloria Asio Omaswa started as a copywriter at QG Saatchi & Saatchi, which she left to join ZK TBWA Kenya, after which she moved to the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics in Switzerland as a branding intern and then The Martin Agency as a strategist. She has been the CEO of Kedajo since September 2021.

"Gloria brings a strong understanding of communication strategy to the projects she handles. With a passion for understanding consumer behaviour both online and offline. Gloria ensures that strong strategic thinking underpins the direction that your brand takes, ensuring that you ultimately meet your communication objectives."

She is among the new appointments the president made as he shuffled ministers.
