Amama Mbabazi health deteriorates, rushed to London

The 74-year-old appeared to be in a poor health state in a video which went viral on Monday, June 12.

In the video, Mbabazi seems to endure excruciating pain as he labors to walk by himself from a Hotel in London.

Refusing help from the staff at the Dukes London hotel, Mbabazi is seen gritting his teeth and can be heard letting out painful groans as he climbs down the two steps of the hotel to cross the street.

A Ugandan woman behind the camera encourages him, as he asks to be helped to sit in the sun.

The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Chris Bagonza as the new Chief of Staff for the UPDF Land Forces (COS LF), according to Colonel Chris Magezi, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information.

Some social media users including former ISO operative Charles Rwomushana claimed Mbabazi had suffered a stroke.

Mbabazi however, clarified later on through his social media handle that it was only back problem.

"To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy and love," he said.

"It is not true that I got a stroke. I had a back ailment which was fixed and I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work"

Some of the users showered the veteran politician with well wishes.

Let's pray it's not a nerve choke, get well soon Ssebo,” tweeted one Kyagulanyi Kabanda, while Isaac Bwengye prayed to God to restore his health.
