There are other reasons behind skin irritation, according to Forefront Dermatology, such as;

Travel stress

This can increase levels of stress hormones thus aggravating the skin or skin conditions. Additionally, missing your skin care regimen while travelling can lead to flare-ups.

Fluid retention

Sitting for long periods of time, as well as too much salt intake, causes water retention. You may notice facial puffiness or swollen feet after hours of air travel. Stay hydrated with water during the flight, wear loose-fitting clothing and avoid crossing your feet.

It is also advised to use sunscreen especially when you're using the window seat. Carrying a small bottle of moisturizer to apply during travel is also advised.

To prevent skin irritation and inflammations, Dr Nazanin Saedi, a dermatologist at Jefferson Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology Center, suggests cleaning your skin and moisturising it with a thick, non-fragranced cream before boarding the plane. Forego makeup on an aeroplane to void clogging your pores. If you are to use makeup, use a non-comedogenic type.

Aboard the plane, avoid touching your face, as you could transfer dirt and impurities onto your skin that will cause you to break out.

When you get off the plane, cleanse your skin so you can quickly wash away any impurities. Use moisturizer as soon as possible so you can get going and get glowing!
