'America gave me independence', Daniella Atim celebrates US independence Day

"Happy independence to the country that gave me independence," her Instagram story captioned a picture of American flags. Atim relocated to the United States back in 2019 after her ex-husband singer Jose Chameleone spent $200,000 (around Shs730 million) on a mansion in Minnesota.

Two years before she relocated with their children, Atim had filed for divorce at Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court accusing the singer of domestic violence. Since then she has always been an advocate against the singer's violent tendencies including his family.

Following the move, in a leaked audio in 2020 Atim said that she only sees her ex-husband as a brother and remains civil for the sake of their children. However, last year during an interview, Chameleone said that they are still involved but due to the distance, they are in a long-distance relationship.

Chameleone confirmed that their relationship is based on unshakeable trust despite the challenges they have faced.

The singer recently visited his family in Minnesota where he embarked on a road trip with his son, who had just graduated, down in the Caribbeans.

Unfortunately, the singer was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery when he touched down in the US. He has been suffering a complication in his gut that he reportedly ignored for a while. He is currently battling a big hospital bill.
