Mugerwa says the government should leverage the massive following and influence that artists command to reach out to the masses with information about, health, security, and development.
“We have a lot of following; people listen and believe in us more,” she said.
“The government agencies should be partnering with us more; let us be your voice for all these important campaigns and programs you are running.”
Mugerwa was speaking on Monday at the celebrations to mark World Food Day, which was held in Mukono District and presided over by Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon Frank Tumwebaze.
At the event, Mugerwa performed her new song about the environment which she released with support from the National Agricultural Research Organization.
In the song, she rallies Ugandans to do more in the fight against climate change, by reducing the use of biofuels and taking other measures to conserve the environment.
The national celebrations were held at the National Coffee Research Institute (NaCORI) in Kyetume, Mukono under the theme: “Water Is Life, Water is Food, Leave no one behind.”
Several other artists including Gravity Omutujju, Karole Kasiita, among others were part of the celebrations and put on thrilling performances for the hundreds of locals and other stakeholders who attended.
