Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo will face off with Burna Boy for an award again, this time in the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) under the category of Best Afrobeat Entertainer.

The same category has Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz, Nigerian songstress Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems, and Kenya's Willy Paul.

The Awards event, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, announced the nominees on March 9.

The award ceremony will be held in Kingston, Jamaica, on May 7.

Winners in 32 categories will be announced that day. Some of the other globally acclaimed musicians that won nominations include Beenie Man, Popcaan, Spice, Stonebwoy, Nicki Minaj, Buju Banton, DJ Khaled, Patoranking and Shatta Wale.

Meanwhile, this is Kenzo's latest face-off with Burna Boy in a short while, as they were both competing for the Best Global Music Performance in the recently concluded Grammys.

Unfortunately, they lost to the South African trio of Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode for their song Bayethe.

Kenzo had been nominated for Gimme Love, his collaboration with American singer Matt B, while Burna Boy for Last Last.

The other songs were Udhero Na, which brought in Pakistani Arooj Aftab and British American Anoushka Shankar, while Neva Bow Down scored Ghanaian Rocky Dawuni and Blvk H3ro a nomination.

The awards were given out on Monday, February 6th at the Crypto.com Arena in Downtown Los Angeles, California, US.

But Eddy Kenzo still made history, as The Recording Academy confirmed him as the first Ugandan ever to get a Grammy Awards nomination, ruling out the premise that the Abaduya music outfit was the first.
