Speaking to the media on Tuesday, June 4, Totto explained what happened in the months leading up to her quitting the Naguru-based media conglomerate.

  1. Next Media knew from the beginning of the year that she wouldn't be returning.
  2. "I sat down with Joe Kigozi [Next Media deputy chief executive officer] and told him I no longer wanted to work," she said, adding that the meeting informing management about her impending departure happened at the beginning of the year, "around February or January."
  3. She said the contract she had signed with Next Media had expired.
  4. She mentioned that the warning letters sent to her were meant to please the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and people who had declared war on Sanyuka TV because of the negative gossip stories aired on the show she co-hosted.
  5. She said she is no longer the kind of person to be bothered by warning letters.
  6. "I wasn't there to be appreciated by any of them; I was there to do my job," she said.
  7. She pointed out that some recent reports on the media industry showed that she is the number two entertainment show host.
  8. She revealed that she blocked all her bosses at Next Media, and they can no longer reach her.
  9. She clarified that she didn't become who she is because of presenting gossip news, as she had previously anchored kids' news at WBS TV, and co-hosted T-Nation at NTV Uganda, before switching to Live Wire on Spark TV and then Next Media.
  10. She stated that she has earned more money as a DJ than from TV presenting.
  11. Her new show, dubbed Vibe Ku Vibe, is a music and gossip news program that will be airing on Makula TV.
