Thousands of uniformed and non-uniformed officers have been spread in Namugongo and surrounding areas to keep law and order as an estimated three million people converge at the shrine for this year’s celebrations.

To help them carry out this work and keep hydrated, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda handed out 100 cartons of water and beverages to traffic officers stationed on the different routes to Namugongo Martyrs Shrine.

Uganda Martyrs Day is an esteemed religious event attended by thousands of pilgrims on June 3rd every year. The day commemorates the martyrdom of 45 faithful Anglican and Catholic converts to Christianity who were brutally executed.

We know that supporting the traffic officers to effectively conduct their duty triggers a ripple effect by easing movement and ensuring safety for road users and attending pilgrims,” said Kirunda Magoola, the Public Affairs Communication and Sustainability Director of CCBU.

According to SSP Rogers Nsereko Kauma, the Kampala Metropolitan Traffic Police Commander, the donation aided the dedicated officers to carry out their job effectively.
