I wasn't bewitched by Stecia - Carol Nantongo

Singer Carol Nantongo says she was misquoted by the media on claims that she was bewitched by fellow Golden Band Member Stecia Mayanja.

Carol Nantongo says she never accused Stecia Mayanja of witchcraft

In a recent interview on Mr. Henry’s The Deep Talk, Nantongo narrated how she was harassed by Mayanja when she had just joined the band.

At one point, she recounted being pulled off stage by Mayanja during a Ronald Mayinja concert at Freedom City.

In the interview, the songstress of the ‘Oliwa’ fame also recounted how she was bewitched, leaving her bedridden for months and unable to sing or speak normally.

When it became apparent that she had been bewitched after several futile attempts to get medical treatment, Nantongo said she was advised by her manager not to speak out publicly because she was “too young” and would not be believed.

However, the ‘Kamese Tambula’ singer over the weekend came out to clarify that the person who bewitched her was not Mayanja as was reported.

When I talked about (being pulled from stage), I mentioned a certain woman’s name but the media added things that I didn't say. The other things which happened to me that got me sick, the other woman I mentioned is not the one who did this to me,” she said.

People should stop bringing her up; they should go back and check the statement I made.”

Nantongo also emphasized that although she is no longer with Golden Band, she is still in touch and maintains a healthy relationship with the members, because they raised her and brought her to where she is today.
