Kats had known Joseph Masembe, the founder of the non-profit Little Hands Go Green -- for a while, so he thought it was usual bar talk.
Masembe asked how much it would cost to hire him.
MC Kats, who at the time was hosting NTV Exposed, mentioned a figure he thought they wouldn't agree to.
A few days later, he was called to sign a contract.
At NTV he had signed a contract that wasn't easy to breach but Kin Kariisa, the chief executive of Next Media Services, assured him that he would deal with that issue as long as he accepted to join.
Kats started evading calls from his bosses at NTV, including Aggie Konde whom he said was a friend on top of being his boss. Konde is a former managing director and chief executive of Africa Broadcasting Uganda Limited, a subsidiary of Nation Media Group and owner of NTV.
Mc Kats, real name Edwin Katamba, went to Namilyango Primary School, Busoga College Mwiri, Makerere Highway College, Kitante Hill Senior Secondary School, Makerere High School and UMCAT School of Journalism where he obtained a Certificate in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The events' emcee, who has been in media for about 16 years -- started with WBS where he worked for four years, took a break for about a year and a half before joining NTV Uganda where he worked for about three and half years, and left to join NBS TV in 2016.
He plans to bow out of emceeing with a final two-day event held on December 2 and 3, 2023.
