Fik Fameica says collabo with Wizkid stalled by high budget demands

However, Fameica revealed to Cruz Xclusive that Wizkid's management requested a substantial budget, around $100k, which was beyond his means.

Despite this setback, the Byenyenya hitmaker remains optimistic about the possibility of working with Wizkid in the future, believing the duet could still happen.

Fameica is not the first Ugandan artist to miss out on a collaboration due to financial constraints.

In 2023, Aziz Azion shared that Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz had offered a collaboration, but it fell through because Azion couldn't meet the production budget.

Fik Fameica did manage to collaborate with Nigerian artist Patoranking on the hit song Omu Bwati, thanks to Sheilah Gashumba's assistance.

The song, which has amassed 1.7 million views on YouTube, was produced by Ghanaian producer Ctea On The Beat and Artin Problem, also known as Artin Pro.

Fameica funded the production and the music video, directed by Sasha Vybz, which was filmed in Kenya while Patoranking was conveniently in the country.

Ugandan and Nigerian artists have a history of successful collaborations. In 2018, Nigerian singer Reekado Banks featured on Ykee Benda's Timetable, produced by Nessim, which became a popular club hit.

That same year, Sheebah Karungi teamed up with Nigerian singer Runtown for her song Weekend. The vibrant track, with its video directed by Teekay, has garnered over 5 million views on YouTube.
