Big Eye explains his scathing remarks towards Phiona Nyamutoro

Big Eye stated that he advised the Minister of State for Minerals, Phiona Nyamutoro, to refrain from commenting on the anti-corruption protests, as he found her input irrelevant.

"I heard that she is the minister for women in Parliament. She is the youth chairperson for women, isn't she? [Nyamutoro is the National female youth Member of Parliament]... So, when the youth are protesting, what did she say?..." Eye remarked. "I had to tell her that she might not be aware of the situation, so she should wait until she understands it better."

On July 23, some Ugandans peacefully protested against corruption. President Yoweri Museveni released a statement on 25 July condemning the protests, which he claimed were funded by foreign agents.

Nyamutoro responded to the president's post on X, which sparked a reaction from Big Eye.

Nyamutoro's comment read, in part: "Most patriotic leaders are notably silent about this so-called ideal demonstration because of the hidden foreign interests involved. It's unfortunate that many innocent young people are unknowingly being used for political purposes, which ultimately undermines the genuine causes they stand for, as the President has clarified."

Big Eye responded to her post: "Oba bino obireke ojila olinda emikolo," which loosely translates to "Maybe you should leave these things and focus on your responsibilities."

For some time, Eye has had a contentious relationship with Eddy Kenzo, Nyamutoro's fiancé, leading some to speculate that this motivated his remarks to the minister. However, Eye denied attacking her due to his issues with Kenzo.

"These are national issues," he explained. "When it concerns our nation, we address you as you come."
