President Yoweri Museveni and business dynamo Hamis Kiggundu, aka Ham, unveiled the revamped Nakivubo Stadium on Thursday, April 25.

The multi-purpose arena boasts a state-of-the-art design thanks to Ham’s innovation and investment.

At the event, Museveni was quick to praise Ham Kiggundu for his forward-thinking approach.

“Kiggundu is a young man who emerged as the NRM came to power, and he truly embodies the NRM spirit through his innovation and drive for prosperity in Uganda,” Museveni said, acknowledging Ham's role in breathing new life into  Hamz Stadium Nakivubo Memorial.

Museveni shared his enthusiasm for Ham's 'can-do' attitude.

“I thank Kiggundu because he has shown that 'yes we can' attitude not only here but in other projects as well," he said.

"He came up with a solid plan, and being a bush warfighter, I got it right away. We don’t waste time; a slow decision can be fatal.”

The President explained the business deal that Hamz Stadium Nakivubo Memorial.

“He proposed a clear deal: lease a government asset to him, he revamps it with private funds and recoups his investment through revenue and nearby businesses for 49 years," he said.

"Simple and effective. If he fails, we boot him; if he succeeds, he profits, and Uganda gets a stellar stadium regardless of who runs it.”

The ceremony was attended by notable figures including the Minister of Kampala City, the Executive Director for KCCA, and the Mayor of Kampala Central Division, all witnessing a new chapter for Nakivubo Stadium.
