Shakib Lutaaya, the husband of Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan, has opened up about his educational background and revealed why he decided to drop out of school during his lower secondary years.
Lutaaya, who attended several schools throughout his youth, described his journey as one marked by financial struggles and personal challenges.
Started his education at a rural school near his home in Kawempe and later went to Balaal School in Bwaise from P1 to P3.
From here, he studied at Nakasero Primary School and later Midland Kawempe
Despite being a smart student, Shakib says he found it increasingly difficult to stay in school due to the financial pressures his family faced.
"There was a point where, in order to get school fees, I had to first go to Owino Market and hustle to get money," he said.
His work at Owino Market, under a man named Talame Christopher, started when he was in P2.

By the time he was in S3 and S4, Lutaaya was working hard to earn money for his school fees but found it unfair to part with his hard-earned money.
"It was hard for me to have to give it out to the school, so I decided to quit it altogether."
No Regrets About His Decision
Reflecting on his decision to leave school, Lutaaya expressed no regret.
"I don't really regret not attaining a higher education because the education system in Uganda is not that effective," he shared.
Despite not having a formal higher education, Lutaaya has gone on to build a successful career, showing that success is not always dependent on traditional academic paths.
