According to UNEB, 60,070 boys (representing 15.4%) passed in division one compared to their female counterparts with only 54,547 girls (representing 12.9%) who were graded in the same division.
172, 827 boys (representing 44.3%) passed in division two compared to their female counterparts who were only 184, 972 (representing 43.9%) in the same grading.
While giving an address during the release of the exam results, Mrs. Museveni said there’s been an improvement in the overall performance of candidates compared to the previous year despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am pleased to note that there has been an improvement in the general performance of candidates across the country compared to last year,” she said, adding, “this has been so despite the fact that the last two years have been tough because of the COVID-19 pandemic that threatened to destroy the entire educations sector.”
According to UNEB, a total of 114,617 (representing 12.1%) passed in division in 2022 compared to 81,864 (representing 11%) in the same division in 2020.
However, it also important to note that there was an increase in the number of candidates who registered for PLE exams.
A total of 832,654 candidates from 14,691 centres registered for the PLE exams in 2022 compared to 749,761 in 2020.
Mrs. Museveni also noted that there has been an increase in the number of candidates who have registered for the exams through the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program. She said this means that people are now more than ever confidante about UPE program.
“I have observed that more candidate have enrolled through PLE which I think means our people have become more confident about UPE,” she said.
Of the total number of candidates, 583,768 (representing 70.1%) candidates registered for the PLE exams through UPE from 11, 306 centres.
