The opposition leaders travelled on Friday to the Kenyan Capital to check on their colleague who is receiving treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital.

Speaking from the hospital, Hon Ssenyonyi said Ssegirinya had registered significant improvement and that he was likely to be discharged soon.

We are grateful to God that the doctors have worked hard and there is real improvement,” said Ssenyonyi.

We expect that he will fully recover. The doctors have not given us a time frame but they said they are doing everything possible to ensure that he recovers.

Ssegirinya is battling a myriad of illnesses ranging from skin cancer to gastro-intestinal complications.

He was rushed to Nairobi on January 9th, after his condition deteriorated.

His mother Mrs. Justine Nakajumba said today that she was hopeful about her son’s condition.

“He will be okay because he has the best medical team beside him,” she said

Nakajumba also urged a section of Ugandans on social media who have been spreading false information about his health and announcing his death to stop.

Hon Ssegirinya was supposed to be sent back to Amsterdam in November last year after he suffered a complication and was rushed to Nsambya Hospital.

His mother Mrs. Justine Nakajumba however, revealed that they could not head back to Europe at the time because the weather there was not favorable to the patient.
