The Rubaga Division Resident City Commissioner, Anderson Burora, revealed this yesterday saying the four culprits must face the law to ensure KCCA work goes on smoothly without distrust from the public.

Burora said his office is this year focusing on fighting corruption in the division that is affecting service delivery to the city dwellers.

Four KCCA officers were arrested over extortion. Investigations are on-going. The four culprits must face the law. KCCA needs to operate in an environment were it has trust from the public,” he said.

While unveiling his targets for the New Year to the media at his office this yesterday, Burora said that due to corruption, Rubaga Division has failed to hit its revenue collection targets.

He noted that in recent years, the division has been collecting between sh6-8b instead of sh30bn in a financial year.

Corruption has been a major block for us to achieve our revenue targets. My focus this year therefore will be to fight corruption in all its forms. If Rubaga division is to develop, then we have to work towards good revenues that would enable us improve the place,” he said.

Burora also noted some individuals especially city planners have been extorting money from city tycoons to shield them from paying taxes which has led to loss of government revenue.

Burora’s move comes at the backdrop of KCCA’s to rehabilitate over 30 roads within Kampala with funding from the African Development Bank.
