Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives and singer Eddy Kenzo has praised his wife Phiona Nyamutoro, who plans to run for Nebbi District Woman Member of Parliament.
“Your integrity, empathy, and wisdom make you an exception leader 🙏❤️ Lero pa Nebbi Team ZIM ZIM 2026 @PNyamutoro,” Kenzo, whose real name is Edrish Musuuza, wrote on X.
Nyamutoro now serves as Minister of State for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development. She is also the current National Female Youth MP, a role that can only be held once for five years. That means she cannot run again in that seat.
Five young candidates have shown interest in taking over from her. They are Gold Ikyiriza, Siyemah Atukunda, Mercy Kanyesigye, Ampaire Diana Kampe, and Pretty Susan Katusiime.

Her move to run for Nebbi Woman MP has drawn mixed views from leaders and supporters. She will face the sitting MP Agnes Acibu, who is also from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
She is not the only NRM-leaning candidate to challenge a party colleague.
For example, Betty Amongi, Oyam South MP and Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, will run for Lira City Woman MP against Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng.
Also, Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, Igara West MP, will try to become Mbarara City Mayor, up against Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi, known as Etaara.
