Controversy has surrounded Seeta High School after claims surfaced that students must pay hefty sums to secure prominent titles for their prom.

A report from The Observer revealed that becoming a "Prom President" allegedly requires a payment of Shs10 million, with an exclusive tag for the titleholder. Meanwhile, the "Prom Prince" title comes with a cost of Shs8.3 million.

Other students attending the prom are reportedly required to pay Shs400,000, while those in the VIP section must cough up Shs800,000 for the privilege of skipping food queues.

In response to the accusations, Seeta High School vehemently denied the claims.

"As a reputable press house, it’s important to do due diligence before posting. This information is false and totally misleading. It would not be bad if you had first researched especially in this digital age," the school posted.

It remains unclear whether the charges apply to all four Seeta campuses or if one specific campus is imposing these fees.

Proms, which have become a popular showbiz event in recent years, now feature students arriving in luxurious cars with their dates. The controversy follows last year's incident at Elite High School when a student made a grand entrance by arriving via helicopter.
