The reports of Besigye accepting Jesus as his Lord and Saviour emerged in the media late last week.

Former Lawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga was quoted stating that he confirmed the development himself when he recently went on to check on Dr Besigye in Luzira.

Dr Besigye, a four-time Presidential candidate has been in jail in November last year.

He faces treason charges following his arrest by Ugandan security operatives in Kenya.

Besigye seeks bail

Late last week, he and his co-accused, Obeid Lutale applied for bail in the High Court Criminal Division.

Both Lutaale and Besigye aged 68  argued in their joint application that they are law-abiding citizens of advanced age facing charges of treason and misprison which are bailable by the High Court.
