A Bukedde TV presenter on Wednesday recounted a harrowing overnight experience in which she survived being sexually assaulted by an armed robber who broke into her home in Lungujja.
The presenter, Betty Nampijja, broke down in tears on Wednesday during the Olugambo segment on the TV station as she narrated how the attacker made his way into her house in the wee hours of the morning.
The incident, she said, happened at around 3:20 am on Wednesday, shortly after she arrived home from covering the weekly UNMF Jam Session in Makindye.
Upon entering the gate, she says, she immediately entered her house and locked the door behind her.
To her shock, she says she saw a man behind her, warning her not to make any noise.

“He told me, do not open your mouth, and he proceeded to pull out a pistol and point it at the back of my head.”
Nampijja says the man then ordered her to walk to her room, at which point she believed she was about to be sexually assaulted.
Fortunately, she says, the attacker only ordered her to surrender all the valuables she had, including money from her wallet.
“Back in the living room, he took my bag, and his colleague came and helped him to carry the TV. He also asked if I had a camera in the house. He thankfully left me with my phone.”
Nampijja says this is the third time she has suffered such an attack while working night events as a journalist.
