Waya Boy, a rising young musician from Uganda, has a story that inspires and resonates with many. Born into a life of limited financial resources, Waya Boy did not let his circumstances hinder his pursuit of music.
Starting out with nothing more than a Nokia cell phone and a basic music production software, FL Studio, he was determined to make his mark in the music industry.
Despite the lack of professional recording equipment and a polished sound, his creativity and raw talent shone through, proving that with passion, anything is possible.
Collaboration with Kumapeesa
Waya Boy's breakthrough came when he teamed up with Kennedy Kumapeesa, a 17-year-old self-taught producer from Kampala.
Kumapeesa, who had learned to play the guitar and piano in church, was passionate about music production. Using YouTube tutorials and FL Studio, he taught himself the art of producing music.
Together, the pair set up in Kumapeesa's mother's sitting room in Lungala, Mpigi district, with basic equipment and no professional sound treatment.
Despite the challenging conditions, they poured their hearts into their music, producing songs like "Omusheshe," "Party Time," "For You," and "Fire Girl."

Perfection and Persistence
A true perfectionist, Waya Boy, who identifies as a Virgo, is driven by a constant desire for excellence. He explained, “I always want the best things, like yeah, it is perfect. When I feel like it is not, then I will make sure I don't doubt that something is missing."
His relentless drive for improvement and quality is at the heart of his music. Although his earlier tracks were not perfectly mastered, they represented the beginning of a promising career.
Now, Waya Boy is working tirelessly to re-produce his songs using better equipment and techniques, aiming to share his music with a wider audience and connect with listeners on a deeper level.
