Singer Bruno K is warning young artists entering the music industry to be cautious when signing contracts with record labels.

Speaking in a televised interview on Saturday, the singer said dangers lurk in rushing into deals without understanding the terms, which can lead to significant financial setbacks.

“Before a young artist signs with a record label, get a friend, family member, or a professional lawyer to read your contract,” Bruno K advised.

“Many young artists get excited because these guys (record labels) will come and give you a car that you have never driven before, and you will be so excited, but that can be a trap.”

The Dangers of Being Exploited

Bruno K says many young artists are often caught up in the excitement of the perks offered by record labels, only to find themselves trapped in exploitative contracts.

“Someone is going to make you sign up for something you don’t understand, and at the end of the day, you’ll realise that you lost years' worth of your work,” he said.

He highlighted the painful reality of having big hits but being financially broke, a situation many artists face when they lack proper management.

“Nothing hurts like having hits when you are broke. It’s difficult being a broke celebrity. You would rather be a rich normal civilian,” Bruno K confessed.

A Fresh Start with Source Management

Bruno K’s new chapter in his career is just beginning as he prepares to sign with Source Management.

After a challenging period without proper management following his fallout with Black Market Records, he is excited to partner with Roger Lubega of Source Management.

“For a long time, I have wanted to be with a manager like him, someone who understands the game,” Bruno K said about Roger Lubega, adding that the new partnership comes at the right time.
