Television presenter and emcee Douglas Lwanga has denied being the man seen falling off a stage in a video that recently went viral on social media.
“I’ve received many calls about a circulating video of someone falling off stage during an event,” Lwanga explained in a social media post. The video shows a man who bears a striking resemblance to him tumbling off the stage while emceeing at an event.
“Let me clarify—it’s not me in the video. That said, I feel for the guy who fell and hope he’s doing okay!” he added.
Who is Douglas Lwanga?
Born in Entebbe, Lwanga was raised by his single mother, Robinah Kidandala, after the passing of his father, Sam Musoke. He grew up alongside three sisters and is the only son and second-last born in the family.
Lwanga attended one of the St. Lawrence schools before pursuing a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Makerere University. During his O-Level years, he was a member of a dance group called The Exclusives, which performed both in Uganda and internationally. The group was managed by a team that included Hakeem The Dream, a radio host; Karl, former manager of Grace Nakimera; and Andre Ringen, Nakimera’s ex-husband
After university, Lwanga began his career as a photographer at MGS Videos, a prominent events company at the time. Seeking to expand his skills, he pursued a course in graphic design at Multitech Business School and started earning by creating advertisements.
He later moved on from MGS Videos to join Record TV, initially working behind the scenes filming a show hosted by renowned communications specialist Tina Wamala. His talent for communication didn’t go unnoticed, and a new manager at Record TV encouraged him to try his hand at presenting after observing him speak in a meeting.
Lwanga’s career flourished as he transitioned from Record TV to NTV and later to NBS, solidifying his place as one of Uganda’s most recognisable television personalities.
