This comes after police officers barred journalists from covering the trial of former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira at the police disciplinary court in Naguru.

Uganda's Human Rights Network for Journalists has expressed concern saying "police brutality is a continued pattern that has persisted" and journalists should neutralize their relations with the police until they are treated fairly.

Police have been in the spotlight over the continuous arrest of journalists and keeping them incommunicado -- the recent being -- Mr. Charles Etukuri of the New Vision, Rev. Isaac Bakka of BTN Television based in Arua district and Mr. Richard Kasule (popularly known as Kamagu) of Top Radio.

Uganda Human Rights Commission also issued a statement condemning "the highhandedness of the police against journalists doing their work".
