The Employment and Labour Relations Court suspended the orders to send the officials on compulsory leave until a petition challenging the directive is heard on June 13, 2018. The petition was filed by activist Okiya Omtatah.

Mr Kenyatta ordered the suspension to allow for fresh vetting in a bid to stem on the rising corruption cases currently facing the country.

President Kenyatta directed that the vetting exercises be concluded on June 30th.

The Head of State also directed that lie detectors will be used during the vetting of procurement and accounting officers in the ongoing war on graft.

“All heads of procurement and accounts in government ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals will undergo fresh vetting including polygraph testing to determine their integrity and suitability,” he said.

This came at a time when a multi billion corruption scandal was unearthed by detectives at the National Youth Service (NYS).
