There was a bit of drama in Butambala District after State Minister for Water Ronald Kibuule commission a water tap project without flowing water.
The minister was invited, among other local leaders, to commission a UGX13.5bn water tap project but unfortunately, the costly project wasn't functioning -- no water was flowing through the taps.
Minister Ronald Kibuule angry demanded for answers why the taps were not dispensing water -- he was surprised to learn that the taps had been dry for some time, according to the residents.
"I won't leave this place without seeing water flowing. Why do you waste my time to come here?” Kibuule asked. “I can’t leave this place without water,” he said.
State owned newspaper reports that Minister Ronald Kibuule, who was flanked by area MP Muwanga Kivumbi, later commissioned the dry water project and promised residents that government would repair the taps.
The project was constructed by Zhongmei, is a Chinese construction and engineering firm in the construction fields of roads, housing, public works, urban rail, mines, and hydropower.
