Ugandas State Minister for Health in Charge of General Duties, Sarah Opendi, has revealed that children are not having the best start in life because men are sucking their breast milk from their mothers.
The minister made the revelation in Parliament last week at the launch of World Breast Feeding Week.
Opendi claims that the practice of men sucking breasts of women is becoming a problem for breastfeeding mothers and their new born babies, New Vision reports.
She stated that "men are part of the problem during breastfeeding" because they "also want something on the other side".
"Breastfeeding is the best start of life, it provides nutrition for babies and protects them against diseases," Opendi told fellow legislators while addressing Parliament.
The minister also said the practice of men sucking breasts of breastfeeding mothers is as a result of a growing myth where some men believe that it helps to cure certain diseases, including erectile dysfunction and impotence.
