The Archbishop of Kampala archdiocese Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga wants governments intervention in collecting tithe.

Kizito Lwanga on Sunday proposed that the government collects the tithe from worshippers on a monthly basis on the church's behalf.

He claims that worshippers don't want to pay the tithe and this slows down the church's work.

"Whenever we ask for tithe, everyone gives what they have at that moment yet the bible says a tenth of what you earn."

Lwanga believes that deducting the tithe directly from the salaries of the worshippers would solve the problem.

"I heard that in Germany, people make agreements with the government to deduct monthly tithe from their salaries.

"The collection is later forwarded to the church. The money is used to renovate churches and support other activities."
