Ugandan animation 'A Kalabanda Ate My Homework' to screen at Festival De Cannes in France
‘A Kalabanda Ate My Homework’ broke barriers and turned heads in the creative spaces in Uganda.
It contributed heavily to the VFX content creators who use mythical local stories to create relateable visual content for the growing digital space and audience.
The comedy animation was produced last in November by a team of creatives including Wembabazi Paul, Bwengye Paul, Muyinga Allan, Jemimah Atim, L Nakishero Franch and Tim Hook.
The 6-minute animation will screen at the largest film festival in the world, Festival De Cannes, which is running for the 71st time.
‘A Kalabanda Ate My Homework’ features in the 'Short Film Corner' which was been chosen by directors and producers as a place to present their films, make professional meetings and take devise steps for their future careers.
The animation will benefit from a prime time viewing position within the Short Film Cornerand will increase its chances of being selected by international festivals.
The two weeks long film festival will take place from Tuesday, 8th May to Saturday, 19th May.

A Kalabanda is a mythical creature that is said to haunt schools in Uganda. Tendo, a pupil shows up to class one day without homework -claiming that a "Kalabanda" ate it. Who'd believe such a lame excuse? No-one! How will Tendo prove his story and does this mythical creature really exist?
