Uganda to screen Christian pilgrims for deadly Ebola virus

Ugandas Ministry of Health has announced that they intend to screen pilgrims for the deadly Ebola virus ahead and during Martyrs Day celebrations on June 3rd.

The health guidelines and measures follow an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the central African nation where over 20 people died.

Screening for Ebola by an expert team of 10 medical personnel will be done at Namugogo and all border districts of DRC, according to a statement released by Ministry of Health.

150 medical workers will have been deployed at different Shrines at Namugongo; also 7 ambulances will be on standby.

The ministry has set up isolation units at China-Uganda Friendship Hospital in Naguru.

Congolese pilgrims have been urged to cooperate with medical personnel and security to undergo Ebola screening.

In May, the government issued tough prevention guidelines after Ebola outbreak in DRC's Bikoro town, about 1,945km from the Ugandan border of Mpondwe in the western district of Kasese.
