After intense polls in Bugiri Municipality, Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wine has congratulated his brother Asuman Basalirwa upon winning the highly contested MP seat.
The legislator was one of the core pillars that held together Basalirwa's campaign in the eastern district of Uganda.
Provisional results indicate that Basalirwa won in most polling stations in Bugiri Municipality.
Bobi Wine on Friday said "Against all odds! This is so humbling and I must congratulate the people of Bugiri for heeding our message and owning it as their own".
"This victory is not only for Hon. Basalirwa. It is a victory for PEOPLE POWER. It is yet another evidence that we THE PEOPLE have THE POWER and if we exercise it, there is NOTHING we cannot achieve".
On 25th July, security agencies in Bugiri raided the hotel where Bobi Wine was staying and arrested over 8 people after failing to trace the Kyadondo East legislator.
The arrested are still in custody for over 76 hours but lawyers are doing everything to secure their release according to Bobi Wine.
"WE, THE PEOPLE must take note of this sickening impunity and bring it to an end," he concluded.
