A magistrate court in Kampala has charged a man who attacked Bishop Luwalira during Easter Sunday prayers at Namirembe Cathedral.
Herbert Kaddu Solomon, 34, was on Wednesday charged with two offenses related with attacking the bishop.
He was charged with threatening violence and disturbing a religious assembly contrary to section 119 of the penal code act.
“On April 1st, at 8am, at Namirembe church, you voluntarily caused a disturbance to an assembly lawfully engaged in the performance of religious worship,” Mwanga II magistrate Julius Mwesigye said.
Kaddu Solomon stormed into the church towards the pulpit towards the bishop while wielding a stick -- he stumbled just in-front of the pulpit and security officials quickly intervened to arrest him.
He has been remanded to Luzira Prison until April 24th.
How the stick-wielding man intruded church
He came driving a vehicle and parked it at the church's main entrance.
He beat security and stormed into church and ran through the church aisle holding a big stick to the Holy Altar before stumbling.
Security operatives and other people overpowered him and whisked off to Namirembe police post for interrogations.
