Several dead, homes destroyed in Kalangala cyclone 

Locals in Kalangala district woke up to severe devastation on Saturday, following an overnight cyclone that swept through the island.

At least four people were confirmed dead in the morning hours according to local reports.

The powerful winds razed down dozens of homes and destroyed crop gardens.

Among the structures destroyed was Kalangala's main police station which was completely destroyed.

Media reports indicate that up to 300 houses were leveled in the disaster.

Locals cried out to the government to come to their rescue.
