She is popular for her major role in a Bollywood movie 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' which starred Aamir Khan. The movie was a modern-day adaption of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

The 50-year-old actress is in the country for a holiday. She tweeted that "I’m in Uganda aaahhhhh ..!!!". In a seperate tweet, she said "I’m on hoolliddaaayyy .. I read a book today ..!! all of it      SHUNYA ... a novel by Sri M ...very interesting ... very ..... fast , simple interesting read ..........nothing is everything , everything ,nothing ....."

But this is not her first time in the East African country.

The mother of two has been in the country several times - part of her family lives in Lugazi, a town in the Buikwe District of the Central Region of Uganda.

Her husband, Jay Mehta, is from the Mehta family which runs the Mehta Group -- a conglomerate based in Mumbai, India, with subsidiaries in the United States, Canada, Kenya and Uganda
