The leaders of these associations say the government has failed to deliver on its earlier promises of enhancing their wages and salaries.

On May 16th, lecturers gave government until July to honour its commitment to pay arrears of about UGX59 billion from the 2017/2018 financial year.

They requested government to cater for the UGX50 billion in salary enhancement for the financial year 2018/2019.

Last year in November, non-teaching staff at public universities issued an ultimatum to the government to include their UGX60 billion in wage arrears in the 2018/19 financial year budget.
