Kale Kayihura was summoned by military on Wednesday

Police in the South Western district of Kisoro have blocked a group of people who had plans to protest over the arrest of former IGP Kale Kayihura.

The protests were reportedly being organised by a small section local leaders in Kisoro district where Kayihura comes from.
The embattled former IGP is reportedly under the detention of the military after the army chief Gen. David Muhoozi summoned him on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the military spokesperson.
Police authorities state that the section of local leaders didn't seek permission for the protests.

"Police have told the mobilisers to follow the right channels to air out their grievance," Deputy Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango told local media.
Security officers armed with anti-riot gear remain deployed in Kisoro town where the protests to "express dissatisfaction" were going to be help.
